Several trucks blocking the road in a place known as Shkembi and Duda in northern Mitrovica were burned overnight. So far, there is no official information about their burning, and the police have not yet spoken, reports Radio Free Europe.
The trucks were deployed at this location on December 27, when groups of Serbs set up new barricades in the north of Kosovo
The burning of these trucks happened exactly on the day when, after 20 days of blockade, it is expected to remove the barricades from the roads in the four northern municipalities of Mitrovica, Zvečan, Zubin Potok and Leposavić.
The news about the removal of the barricades was announced on the evening of December 28 after Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić met with representatives of Kosovo Serbs.
The removal of the barricades is conditioned by the release from custody of former Kosovo policeman Dejan Pantić, who was arrested on suspicion of organizing attacks on the offices of the Central Election Commission of Kosovo in the north of the country at the beginning of December.
Pantić was released from custody yesterday after he was sentenced to house arrest.
At the protest that took place in the Zvečan village of Rudare, the political representatives of the Kosovo Serbs set other conditions for the removal of the barricades, including the formation of the Community of Municipalities with a Serb majority, Klix.ba reports.
