Severina’s lawyer, Jasminka Biloš, spoke to Večernji list after her apprehension at the border with Serbia and said that no matter how you define that detention, “it was still deprivation of liberty for a few hours”.

In an interview with Večernji list, the singer’s lawyer revealed that the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia was informed about the incident at the Bajakovo crossing where Severina was detained for several hours.

“Severina was detained for several hours without any explanation at that crossing, her personal vehicle was searched, she personally as well as her manager and their personal belongings. She waited for several hours for the arrival of two republican inspectors from the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Serbia who did not tell her why they considered it necessary interview and question her. They did not tell her that she was being charged with any verbal offense punishable by the regulations of the Republic of Serbia,” she said in a statement.

Let us remind you that Severina was stopped at the border at 19:35. After stopping her, the police called inspectors, who allegedly asked her questions about the Storm, Srebrenica and supporting protests against lithium mining. This was confirmed by her lawyer.

“They questioned her about her statements and attitudes regarding Srebrenica and the genocide, which was not a necessary questioning because they are historical facts. They further questioned her about some of her other attitudes, which she considered intimidation and harassment, and she requested the return of her personal documents and the return to the Republic of Croatia, which she was finally able to do, although she was told that she could continue her journey to Serbia, which she did not want, but the reason why she set out on that journey fell away, and she no longer felt safe traveling to Serbia,” she said.

She then explained: “No matter how we legally define that detention, it was still deprivation of liberty for a few hours because Severina could not return or continue her journey, and because of that we reported everything to the competent ministry and we expect their further reaction.”

The singer herself spoke about the whole case and revealed how her apprehension went, Klix.ba writes.
