Shameful: Zenica Mayor cancelled the one-time Allowance for a newborn Child

The city of Zenica has officially abolished the one-time allowance of 230 BAM for newborns. The councilors made this decision yesterday at the 30th session where they adopted the City of Zenica Budget for the current year.

The mayor of Zenica, Fuad Kasumovic, visited the Zenica Cantonal Hospital on the first day of 2023 and gave a gift to the first born baby in the new year.

On that occasion, he handed the happy mother Ilhana Turcinovic a payment of 1,000 BAM, and sent her the most sincere congratulations on the occasion of the arrival of her baby.

However, a little more than a month after that, with the latest decision of the city councilors of the city of Zenica, the one-time financial aid for newborns is canceled even though 200,000 BAM was previously planned for it in the budget.

The right to one-time allowance in the amount of 230 BAM per month was granted to one of the parents who has a registered place of residence in the city of Zenica. However, that has come to an end.

This move by Kasumovic caused a heated debate at the session of the City Council. Council member Emina Babic emphasized that as a woman, mother and daughter, she is disappointed with this decision.

“Personally, I think that it is quite enough for each woman in labor to have 1,000 BAM per month, and because they receive these funds from the canton, we have canceled this fee,” said Fuad Kasumovic in explaining his decision to cancel this budget item, Klix.ba reports.
