Sharp Increase in Number of Coronavirus Positive Patients in Sarajevo

Inflow of coronavirus positive patients to the General Hospital “Prim. dr. Abdulah Nakas ”in Sarajevo increased sharply yesterday and today, it was announced from this health institution.

They state that the admission triage clinic of the hospital is full, as well as the Covid ward where the placement of patients in the hallway has begun.

The General Hospital appeals to the citizens to take the new situation most seriously and to strictly adhere to the recommended epidemiological measures.

The statement states that the authorities are asked to urgently fulfill the previous requests sent to the relevant ministry by the Crisis Staff of the General Hospital regarding the admission of staff and the purchase of equipment for the needs of the fourth wave of the pandemic.

They also demand that the agreement already reached from the meeting of the Crisis Staff of Sarajevo Canton and the heads of health institutions on the urgent opening of a central reception-triage point be respected so that medical staff can help those patients who are for hospital treatment and avoid unnecessary pressure on the hospital.

After laboratory testing of 851 samples, 92 new cases of coronavirus infection were confirmed in Sarajevo Canton last day. In the same period, one person died as a result of this infection.

There are currently 105 patients in hospital, 84 of whom have an acute infection, while the rest are post covid or under observation. 55 patients are treated at the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo, and 50 at the General Hospital “Prim.dr. Abdulah Nakas”. There are no patients on a respirator, while 11 of them use oxygen support to breathe above 15 liters per minute.

Today, Sarajevo Canton records 616 active cases of coronavirus. There are currently 1,702 people in self-isolation. Since the beginning of the pandemic in the Sarajevo Canton, a total of 54,580 people have been infected with the coronavirus and 52,657 have been cured.

According to the data of the Institute of Public Health of CS, in the past seven days the average number of infected is 87, while the weekly incidence, ie the number of patients per 100,000 inhabitants, is 144.
