The vehicle fleet of the Government of the Brcko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and other public institutions currently numbers 340 vehicles, whose costs in the first half of this year have been significantly reduced compared to the same period last year. During the year, 14 new vehicles were acquired and an auction was held for 28 written-off vehicles.

“Vehicle maintenance costs for the fleet of the Brcko District Government and other public institutions for the first six months amounted to 70,500 BAM, while for the same period last year they were 133,000 BAM,” said Radoslav Kojic from the Fleet Maintenance Service.

He added that there was also a reduction in fuel costs, the reason for which is the drop in fuel prices compared to 2022, and this year they amounted to 300,000 BAM, which is 50,000 BAMless compared to last year.

Since the beginning of 2023, 14 new vehicles have been acquired for the needs of the services of the Government of the Brcko District, said Kojic, emphasizing that the procurement of new vehicles is carried out by the Department for Public Affairs and the Office for the Management of Public Assets, and five vehicles were received by the Sub-Department for Cadastre and land books, five vehicles were given to the Brcko District Police, one vehicle was intended for the Mayor’s Office and the remaining three were assigned to different Departments.

“Also, in the first half of this year, an auction of written-off vehicles was held, and 28 vehicles were sold on that occasion, while several more vehicles are planned to be acquired by the end of the year, but this is done by the Office for Public Property Management, and we, as a Service, are only a procurement intermediary,” added Kojic.

When it comes to the costs of vehicle insurance and technical inspections, the price is a few percent higher compared to the first half of the previous year, which is a consequence of the purchase of new vehicles, Kojic pointed out.
