Acting on an order of a prosecutor from the Special Department for Organised Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, SIPA police officers, in cooperation with police officers from the Republika Srpska Ministry of Interior, conducted searches in the Zvornik area and arrested six suspects.

The suspects are under investigation and are charged that they, as members of an organised criminal group organised to transfer illegal migrants from the Republic of Serbia to Bosnia and Herzegovina and further to EU countries, committed the criminal offence of Organised Crime under Article 250 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in conjunction with the criminal offence of Smuggling of Persons under Article 189 of the same Code.

The performed activities are part of the strategic measures taken in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the fight against organised illegal migrations.

The suspects within the international operation “Best” are under investigation and are suspected that they, acting with to them known persons from the territory of the Republic of Serbia, participated in planning, organising and carrying out the smuggling of illegal migrants from the territory of the Republic of Serbia to Bosnia and Herzegovina across the water border on the Drina River.

After interviewing the suspects, the case prosecutor will decide on further activities in this case.
