According to the order of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on Monday, July 8, assistant commander of the Trebinje Border Police Unit Blagoje Milović and citizen of BiH and Croatia Ivica Bago were deprived of their liberty for the criminal offenses of organized crime, illicit traffic of excise goods, abuse of position or authority, and other criminal offenses.

The aforementioned investigation is conducted by the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republika Srpska, while the State Agency for Investigation and Protection – SIPA is involved in the implementation of deprivation of liberty activities.

In addition to other persons, SIPA deputy director Zoran Galić is also included in the investigation, due to suspicion of committing criminal acts: receiving gifts and other forms of benefits and abuse of position or authority, during the period when he was acting as director of the BiH Border Police.

Also, there are grounds for suspicion that an unknown person from the aforementioned institutions involved in the investigation provided the suspect Zoran Galić with information about the investigation and the planned measures and actions against him, which would commit the criminal offense of violating the secrecy of the proceedings, and the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, together with domestic institutions and international partners, to conduct an investigation in order to identify and process the said person in accordance with the law.

Suspect Galić, after receiving information, illegally crossed the border of Bosnia and Herzegovina on July 8 in the afternoon, and fled to the Republic of Croatia, where he is now.

The investigation into this case of high-level corruption continues, and is being carried out with the direct support of EUROPOL, announced the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH.
