The Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Bećirović spoke with the President of the Republic of Estonia Alar Karis at the headquarters of the United Nations (UN) in New York. This meeting is part of the overall activities of Chairman Bećirović with the aim of intensifying cooperation with NATO and EU members.
During the conversation, Bećirović thanked Estonia for its support to Bosnia and Herzegovina on the way to the EU and NATO. He emphasized that representatives of Estonia always clearly express their support for Bosnia and Herzegovina in its approach to the EU and NATO. Such a friendly attitude of Estonia to Bosnia and Herzegovina on the way to the EU was especially expressed during the Estonian presidency of the Council of the European Union, announced the BiH Presidency.
The President of the Republic of Estonia, Alar Karis, emphasized that Estonia strongly encourages reform processes in Bosnia and Herzegovina and activities within the framework of European and Euro-Atlantic integration. He expressed Estonia’s readiness to share experiences from the negotiation process on the way to the EU and NATO through its experts. The Estonian president said that representatives of Estonia at all meetings of EU officials support the further expansion of the EU to the countries of the Western Balkans, including all forms of pre-accession assistance and cooperation.
The interlocutors were reminded that Estonia was the first country to ratify the Stabilization and Association Agreement between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the EU on September 11, 2008.
Bećirović expressed his gratitude for the support of the Republic of Estonia during the adoption of the Resolution on July 11 as the International Day of Remembrance and Commemoration of the Srebrenica Genocide committed in 1995.
Chairman of the BiH Presidency Denis Bećirović and President of the Republic of Estonia Alar Karis agreed that the political relations between the two countries are good, but that both countries are interested in improving economic cooperation and contractual relations, as well as intensifying bilateral contacts at the highest level. Also, it was noted that the cooperation of the two countries on the multilateral level is very good, and the interest in further strengthening of overall relations was expressed, Bećirović’s cabinet stated.
