Vucic at the UN: Peace is more important than Anything else

The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, said on a panel at the Summit on the Future in New York that today peace is more important than anything, but that no one sees it as a real value.

“It is important to have peace, not conflicts,” said Vučić.

He pointed out that the international first applies to the great powers, which, he says, use peace to their advantage.

“All major powers should be reminded that they should not violate international rights,” said Vučić.

He emphasized that Serbia supports the Pact of the Future, regardless of wanting a better understanding for small countries.

He points out that it is important to find a balance between Western interests and the rule of law and the demands of other countries.

“Serbia respects the norms and regulations of international law, it is also a modern country with a high growth rate and is not ready to sacrifice its traditional values,” said Vučić.

The President of Serbia told journalists in New York, before the start of the Summit on the Future, that according to Resolution 1244 of the UN Security Council, the temporary institutions of self-government in Pristina do not have the right to exist and form any armed forces.

“It is not something that can threaten the Serbian Army, but it can threaten the survival of Serbs in Kosovo, there is no doubt,” said Vučić.

He stated that he will give a speech at the UN General Assembly tomorrow, the main part of which will be about Kosovo and Metohija and the violation of all principles of international public law.
