japan_flag_blowing-1The Government of Japan signed 11 grant agreements in BiH, whose value is 6 million KM.

“The project to hand out grant assistance for the purchase of industrial equipment” has the highest individual value of 3,5 million KM, and the rest of the 10 projects are related to grant assistance for based-projects (GAGP) that amounted to 2,5 million KM.

This project is intended to help the economic and social development of BiH through the use of industrial equipment produced in eastern Japan, especially in Tohoka, the region that was hit the hardest by the earthquake and tsunami, as well as to contribute to the reconstruction of the local economy in Japan that suffered serious consequences.

In the framework of this project, BiH would be able to obtain sophisticated industrial equipment such as fire trucks for support, support vehicles for water rescue and advanced medical equipment.

The Japanese government signed 10 more agreements on grant assistance for basic projects (GAGP) that cover various sectors and whose total value is 2,5 million KM.

These are: support for demining activities in the framework of the establishment of an international tourist corridor in Herzegovina, municipality Ravno in amount of 1,18 million KM, Elementary School Renovation Project “19 April” Derventa of 174.565 KM, Project to improve equipment for elementary school “Edhem Mulabdić” in Sarajevo for 174.264 KM, elementary school renovation project “Kozarska Djeca” in Gradiška for 136.328 KM, elementary school renovation project “Abdulvehab Ilhamija” in Žepče for 76.956 KM, project to improve process of waste collection for 87.308 KM, project for improvement of working conditions in health clinic in Vareš for 174.612 KM, project for construction of water supply in local community Bilalovac, municipality Kiseljak for 156.888 KM, project to establish central heating system on biomass in municipality Petrovac for 172.598 KM and electrification project for 174.115 KM.

Since 1996 until today the Japanese government financed more than 200 GAGP projects throughout BiH, and the amount of donations is increasing every year. This contributes to the strengthening of ties between Japan and BiH.
