The Sarajevo Cantonal Court today found Savo Marinković and Aleksandar Macan guilty of the murder of Sarajevo police officers Adis Šehović and Davor Vujinović in 2018. Marinković was sentenced to 45 years in prison, and Macan to 15 years.

Both will have time served in custody credited towards their sentences.

The court found the two defendants guilty of aggravated robbery and murder. Marinković was sentenced to a combined sentence of 45 years in prison, and Macan to 15 years in prison.

Both the prosecution and the defense have the right to appeal this verdict.

Saim Smajlović from the Sarajevo Canton Police Union Board of Directors said that today’s verdict sent a clear message that justice and the rule of law have prevailed.

The evidentiary hearing in this case concluded on November 4.

The third defendant in the murder of the Sarajevo police officers, Marko Trifković, was previously sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty.

A large number of members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Sarajevo Canton attended the Cantonal Court today to pronounce the verdict against Savo Marinković and Aleksandar Macan.

As a reminder, Marinković and Macan are accused of having been caught attempting to steal a car on Geteova Street, Alipašino Polje neighborhood in Sarajevo, on October 26, 2018, at around 4:20 a.m.

They then opened fire on the police officers, firing at least 20 bullets.

Adis Šehović died on the spot, while Davor Vujinović died a few hours later from his injuries, BHRT writes.
