The project to build the small hydropower plant “Cijevina 3” on the river Bosna near Doboj, which “Elektrodoboj” is implementing with credits from the German Development Bank KfW, donations from the European Commission and their own funds, has multifaceted importance for development and organization of this part of the RS.

Dragana Kovačević, the coordinator of the implementation team for the project of small hydropower plant “Cijevina 3”, says that this is a project to build a hydroelectric plant and dam side with a nominal installation capacity of 13.83 megawatts and an average annual generation of 69 gigawatt hours.

Kovačević says that the construction of an embankment on the side stretch of 6.5 kilometers upstream of the power plant will allow the protection of agricultural areas and infrastructure from constant flooding, which threatens the development of settlements and prevents the use of land for agriculture.

‘’The project of construction of “MHE Cijevina 3” already received an environmental permit on the basis of studies made on environmental impacts. Given that protecting the environment is one of the most important goals of this project, both in terms of the KfW bank, European Commission and our company, the existing environmental will be adopted to higher European standards’’, said Kovačević.
