The Prime Minister of the Federation of BiH, Nermin Nikšić, the Federal Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry, Vedran Lakić, and representatives of the Federal Ministry of Transport and Communications, met today at the headquarters of the Federal Government in Sarajevo with the director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in BiH, Manuela Naesl and to her associates.

The topics of discussion were current projects in the Federation of BiH, which are being implemented with the support of the EBRD, and primarily relate to the construction of sections of the highway on Corridor 5c. Also, in addition to roads, there was also talk about investments in railway infrastructure, as well as in the field of energy transition.

Representatives of the Federal Ministry of Transport and Communications mentioned two important projects that include the modernization and electrification of the railway infrastructure, which are included in the three-year Public Investment Program of the FBiH.

Nikšić emphasized the FBiH Government’s commitment to continuity in partner cooperation in the implementation of all important projects that are implemented with the support of the EBRD, as well as other international financial institutions, without which large investments could hardly be realized. One of the most important interests for the Government of the Federation, he stated, is the Southern Interconnection project, as an additional source of energy, but also of economic development and progress in BiH.

Director Naesl, along with congratulations on the appointment of the Government, wished for the continuation of successful cooperation on many started projects, especially in the transport infrastructure. She expressed satisfaction that the Government of the Federation is planning new capital investments.

She also emphasized the importance of energy transition projects that include renewable energy sources. In this regard, the Government’s support was requested in making decisions on decarbonization and the new law on energy, and in order to soon implement two solar power plant construction projects with Public Enterprise Elektroprivreda BiH.

Prime Minister Nikšić also pointed out that projects related to reducing pollution, among others, are priorities that the Government will work on, the FBiH Government Office for Public Relations announced.
