A numismatic exhibition called “Tragom novca (Following the money)” was opened on the occasion of marking the 20th anniversary of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBiH) in the National Museum of BiH in Sarajevo on August 11, 2017. This is the first of activities with which the CBBiH is marking the 20th anniversary of its work under the slogan “20 Years of Stability”. The exhibition was officially opened by the Governor of CBBiH Senad Softic, and the opening ceremony followed after a solemn session of the Governing Council of CBBiH.
“I am proud to emphasize that the CBBiH is completely independent, credible and transparent and that it served as one of the foundations of macroeconomic stability during all these years,” stated Governor Softic.
The first banknotes of BAM were issued on June 22, 1998, and the first coins the same year in December.
“The exhibition of money that we are opening today shows the most beautiful and most significant copies of money that is in circulation in the territory of BiH in the period from the 4th century BC until the 21st century, which are part of the collection of money that belongs to the National Museum of BiH or the CBBiH, including the money that is currently in circulation,” stated the governor.
The exhibition will be open by September 22, 2017. With the aim of promoting this exhibition and informing the public about the circulation of money in the territory of BiH through different historical periods, the CBBH is planning to organize visits to the Museum until the closing of the exhibition, in cooperation with its partner institutions and educational institutions.
