Soreca: Strengthening Security and stronger Supervision of existing Visa-free Regimes

The European Commission today adopted the first EU Strategy for visas. The goal of the Strategy is to strengthen security, including stronger supervision of existing visa-free regimes, but also to increase prosperity and competitiveness by facilitating, speeding up and making legal travel more predictable, the head of the Delegation of the European Union in BiH, Luigi Soreca, announced at X.

“Moreover, the EU and its Member States will work with partner countries to explore pragmatic solutions to reduce complexity for professionals who rely heavily on mobility across Europe. They will also investigate the introduction of new legislation with a specific set of rules for extended short stays at the EU level,” said Soreca.

This is especially relevant for professional drivers from BiH and the Western Balkan region, but also for others, such as touring artists or athletes.

“Overall, the Strategy emphasizes the importance of partnership. BiH, as a neighbor and a country on the way to the EU, will remain a key partner in a time defined by growing mobility in order to ensure common security, economic growth and competitiveness,” wrote Soreca.
