The Spanish Minister of Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu, said that the number of tourists who visited Spain last year exceeded 84 million and that this is a new record.

Hereu stated that before the COVID-19 pandemic, the highest number of tourists was achieved in 2019. Last year, that number increased by one percent, and by 19 percent compared to the number of tourists in 2022.

Pointing out that according to statistical data, the largest number of tourists who visited the country so far in 2019 was 83.5 million, Minister Hereu emphasized that this number was exceeded in 2023 and increased to 84 million.

Hereu also stated that the total income from tourism in 2023 will exceed 108 billion euros.

The Spanish minister pointed out that they expect a record number of tourists and income from tourism in 2024 as well, unless there is a special external factor.

It was announced that official and clear data on tourism will be published by the State Bureau of Statistics (INE) next week.

It was also announced that Madrid will enter the Formula 1 race calendar from 2026, and it will be officially announced on January 23, AA writes.
