Sarajevo International Airport presented today new solutions, introduced within the Danova Next project, to improve the accessibility of transport for all people with disabilities and reduced mobility through innovative services.
Within the framework of the mentioned project, with a total value of 2,622,400 euros for the entire Danube region, customized solutions were created and fully accessible digital travel information services (DTIS) were provided by creating a smart network between airports, ports and local urban transport in that region.
The Acting Director of Sarajevo International Airport, Dino Selimović, said that he is proud that they are the first public company in Bosnia and Herzegovina to implement this kind of customized service for people with disabilities.
He invited other public companies to follow their example and stated that they are open to the transfer of knowledge and experience, and expressed the hope that Sarajevo International Airport will continue to improve the service for all passengers in the most efficient way possible in the coming period.
Federal Minister of Labor and Social Policy Adnan Delić pointed out that the project is very important for people with disabilities because it is not only about removing physical barriers, but also about raising awareness of the need to adapt to these categories.
He emphasized that freedom of movement is one of the basic human rights and that we should do everything to facilitate the movement of people with disabilities who do not deserve to be excluded and left aside.
Delić thanked the airport management for the implementation of the project and expressed the hope that other public institutions that provide services to citizens will also adapt to people with disabilities.
Berin Riđanović, project manager of Danova Next from Sarajevo International Airport specified that wheelchairs and PRM software were procured as part of the project for easier locating of passengers and easier assignment of service personnel for that category of passenger.
He added that the E-gate inclusive coordination system adapted to ensure efficient and equal passage of passengers with reduced mobility through airport controls was established.
Representatives of the association of persons with disabilities and reduced mobility assessed new solutions and services as significant for facilitating access and use of airport facilities for these categories of passengers.
