The 53rd International Fair of Agriculture and Food Industry – Plum Fair was closed today in Gradačac. More than 150 exhibitors from Bosnia and Herzegovina, countries of the region and Turkey presented themselves on about 5,000 square meters in the past three days. The organizer of this traditional fair manifestation was the Tourist Board of the town of Gradačac, with the support of the City of Gradačac and numerous partners and sponsors.

“We haven’t yet had the final deliberations of the Organizing Committee to exchange information and impressions, but I am personally satisfied with this year’s fair. It is true that we had a change in the format, a change in the date of the fair, all of which to a certain extent affected both the visit and the participation of the exhibitors. But, ultimately, we are satisfied with this year’s Plum Fair. We are particularly satisfied with the accompanying contents of the fair, sub-fair manifestations, concert evenings. Everything is at the highest possible level, which we are quite happy about because we invested enormous efforts in preparing the fair’s contents,” said Sakib Imširović, acting head of the Tourist Office of the Tourist Board of Gradačac.

Renowned companies in the field of food production and processing, protective equipment, mechanization and equipment, institutions and organizations that support agricultural development and the banking sector presented themselves at the Plum Fair. There were also collective exhibitions of partner cities, chambers of commerce and crafts, tourist boards and other organizations.

“During these three days of the fair, exhibitors and agricultural producers had the opportunity to introduce themselves to visitors, to exchange information with related exhibitors, to establish new business relationships. But also to attend educational lectures that could help them to perfect and further improve their production or planting of plums, if we are talking about the plum producers themselves,” added Imširović.

Innovations, knowledge exchange and research in the field of agriculture were discussed at the round tables. They talked about the future of greenhouse production, as well as proving the variety of fruit. Lectures on the preparation of corn silage and mastitis in cows were held for farmers.

At the 53rd Agriculture and Food Industry Fair, medals for product quality were awarded to exhibitors of Plum Fair and graded brandy and strong alcoholic beverages. The 2nd competitive exhibition of dairy breeds was held. The beekeeping association “Pčela” Gradačac organized the 9th beekeeping fair with international participation.

In order for the plum to return to the focus of this economic and tourist event, a Gastrofestival dedicated to the plum was held and a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed on the implementation of the “Plum Road” project. The mayor of Gradačac, Hajrudin Mehanović, also said that plums are an important export resource and that we have great economic benefits from them, and that is the culture and tradition of this region, the organizer said.

“The plum represents an extremely significant potential of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the goal is to make better use of this potential and return the plum to the place it once occupied. Through the “Plum Road” project, a new breakthrough is planned in the promotion, production and tourist potential of plums, as well as strengthening regional cooperation,” said Kemal Hrnjić, Minister of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry of the FBiH, Fena writes.
