The Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Zukan Helez, hosted the co-founders of the Exchange Council of the Federal State of Maryland and BiH, Adnan Hadrovic and Emir Nurkic Kacapor, the Ministry of Defense of BiHannounced.

Helez expressed his satisfaction that he can see that the diaspora from BiH is actively involved in helping and the economic development of BiH.

The cooperation between the Federal State of Maryland and BiHhas existed for 20 years and has produced significant results, especially in the military part of the cooperation.

During the visit of Minister Helez to Maryland in April 2023, it was agreed to expand cooperation between BiH and Maryland to civil resources. In this context, the minister submitted a letter of intent for cooperation in the fields of economy, health and culture of the two countries.

At yesterday‘s meeting, the plans for the expansion of that cooperation were specified.

”We will do everything so that the benefits of the partnership with Maryland are felt not only by our soldiers but also by the citizens of our country. Our goal is to develop cultural, sports and school exchanges between the Federal State of Maryland and BiH within the framework of civil cooperation,” Minister Helez stated.

The work of the Exchange Council of the Federal State of Maryland and BiH has the full support of the Maryland National Guard and the civil authorities of this federal state.

This is an opportunity to improve the relationship between the Federal State of Maryland and BiH, but also for the BiHdiaspora in the United States (U.S.) to get familiar with the activities of the Ministry of Defense of BiH, the Armed Forces of BiH (AFBiH), but also in general with all events from BiH.

Also, this is an opportunity for the citizens of the U.S. to learn about positive stories in the AFBiH, but also about the results of the support that the U.S. has been providing to BiH for many years, the Ministry announced.
