IMM Cologne Furniture Fair imm-cologne.deThe furniture factory “Standard” in Prnjavor, with 370 employees, ended year 2016 successfully. This year they plan to complete the paint shop, in which they need to invest three million BAM and for which they will need more skilled workers.

From the production halls in Prnjavor, solid furniture is exported for the known brand Ikea. Almost all that is produced, of approximate value of 30 million BAM, is exported.

Since privatization in 2004, when the factory got a new director, investor from Switzerland, production increased. According to statistics, last year was a record one.

“We are very satisfied with the production an export in 2016. We have completed the year within the plan, slightly above the previous year and we set a new record in our production,” says Edin Dacic, president of the Board of the furniture factory “Standard” Prnjavor. The number of workers is increased as well. Currently there are more than 370 workers.

“I’ve worked here for 11 years, I am satisfied”, says Rada Kalaba, one of the workers.

Students who have graduated from the high school in Prnjavor get the job as well, for instance Bojan Vidovic is a technician for wood working for six months in a factory.

“I love to work with wood, I love this job, just as I was finishing elementary school I applied for the high school, specialty in technician woodworking, I enrolled and immediately got a job here,” said Vidovic.

In Standard they say that they are interested in training of a new staff. Support comes from the Municipality of Prnjavor, which is to facilitate the businessmen, and reduced the real estate tax to a minimum of 0.05 percent.

“We have sent a letter to the Ministry and high school with a request to include Standard in their program and to enroll additional department in the next school year,” said Mayor of Prnjavor Darko Tomaš.

The Standard is ending an investment worth 3 million BAMthis year. New spray line will allow to increase production by at least 5 percent. (RTRS)
