The European Union rejects any accusations of involvement in the mass protests in Serbia related to the planned mining of lithium, said the spokesperson of the European Diplomatic Service, Peter Stano.
“The EU absolutely rejects any accusations of involvement in any illegal or illegitimate activities related to foreign interference. This is not something the EU would do,” Stano said in response to a journalist’s question about Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić’s statements that the protests against lithium mining were supported by the forces from the West.
Protests erupted in Serbia at the beginning of August due to the authorities’ plans to renew the license of the mining giant “Rio Tinto” for mining lithium.
