For the first time in Sarajevo a weekend dedicated to entrepreneurship and innovation, called Startup Weekend , will be held on the 16th and 17th November at the University of Sarajevo, School of Economics and Business.
Startup Weekend is intended for all young people who have ideas about starting their own business and for those who want to acquire new knowledge and skill in three categories: development, design and non technical. Including today, there are already seventy students registered, which shows that the youth is interested in this workshop.
Selma Lomigora, one of the organizers of the Startup Weekend in an interview says:
”We chose Sarajevo as the place for the workshop because there is a large number of unemployed young people and because of that there is a great chance for the development of entrepreneurship. The youth has to take the initiative and we want to see what is most appealing for them”.
Startup Weekend is different from all other conferences and meetings because the participants are not only presented with lectures, but they get the chance to work on concrete tasks.

Lomigora also states that the teams work on one idea till the end of the workshop. ”The goal is to have a finished project by Sunday, which is the closing session of the workshop, which will contain all initial parts that are crucial for the startup of companies, for example marketing, finances, design of the web site, the market, competition…initially everything, so you can go to a bank and seek loans for your own business”.
