Today, the police officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) of Bosnia and Herzegovina carried out the operational action “Divič”, in the framework of which they searched business and residential buildings and movable property in 17 locations in the Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Bijeljina.
“Eleven persons were deprived of their liberty who were taken to the premises of SIPA for criminal processing and questioning as suspects, after which they will be handed over to the further jurisdiction of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina within the legal term,” SIPA announced.
It was pointed out that during the search, 15,360 BaM, 48,885 euros, 320,010 dinars, 16 agendas – notebooks with various records, as well as other items that can be used as evidence of “organized crime related to criminal acts” were discovered and temporarily confiscated. Smuggling”, “Abuse of position or authority”, “Unconscionable work in service”, “Giving gifts and other forms of benefits”, and “Receiving gifts and other forms of benefits” prescribed by the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and criminal offenses “Abuse of official position or authority” and “Accepting a bribe” prescribed by the Criminal Code of the Republika Srpska.
“The said group smuggled and transported various types of goods (the majority of which were fruits and vegetables) across the state border from the territory of the Republic of Serbia to Bosnia and Herzegovina and vice versa via the Popovi – Pavlovića Bridge border crossing,” SIPA said.
