b_161109072Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn presented the Report on Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is a part of the enlargement package, to the Department for Foreign Affairs of the European Parliament.

Hahn said that economic situation in BiH is improving, but that work still has to be done, emphasizing that the country should work on basic things, change the inefficient administration and solve the unemployment issue, especially among youth.

„The progress in BiH must be maintained. It is necessary to invest further efforts towards democratization. The country suffers from problems which hinder its development and that must be solved. Boycotts impede the efficient work of parliaments and assemblies. That is another thing that should be worked on, as well as the rule of law,“ said Hahn.

Hahn said that these challenges are mutual for all countries of the Western Balkans.

„This is a real image and it is in the interest of all of us to keep working on this. The extent of challenges that are ahead of BiH and other Balkan countries must not be underestimated,“ said Hahn.
