Statistics: Number of Children in pre-school and Education Institutions

In the school year 2017/2018, on the territory of BiH, there were 322 pre-school institutions with 25.844 children. Compared to the previous school year, the number of pre- school institutions is 3 % lower, the number of children in pre-school institutions increased by 3,7 %, and the number of employees is 4,8 % higher.

Out of the total number of children, 70,3% of them attended public institutions, while 29.7% of children attended private institutions. The number of children waiting for placement in a preschool institution was 2.777and this number decreased by 1,4% compared to the previous school year.

In the school year 2017/2018 there were 4.884 children in nursery, which represented an increase by 9,7% compared to the previous school year. The largest group was the one of children aged 2 and 3 years (57.3%).
