Statistics: What is Number of Unemployed Persons in BiH?

In January 2019 the number of registered unemployed in BiH amounted to 433.438.

If we take 2017 as a base year (2017 = 100) and compare January 2019 with the same month of 2018, we will notice that the number of unemployed decreased by 8,2 index points, or in absolute terms the number of people registered as unemployed decreased by 42.103.

If we compare registered unemployed by qualification structure, we will notice that the largest number of unemployed are highly skilled and skilled by 141.095, followed by unskilled by 122.160 and those with a high school diploma by 118.675, BiH Agency for Statistics reports.

The lowest number of unemployed are those with higher education by 6.668, followed by those with university education by 36.707 (including PhDs and Masters).

The share of the female population in registered unemployed amounted to 55,8% or in absolute terms 241.941 females.

In the female population, the largest number of unemployed are those with secondary education by 76.815, then those unskilled by 67.834 and those with highly skilled and skilled qualification by 63.579 females.

In January 2019, the number of persons in paid employment in BiH amounted to 823.455, out of which there were 353.914 women. As compared to December 2018, the number of persons in paid employment increased by 0,7% and the number of employed women also increased by 1,4%.

The number of registered unemployed persons in January 2019 compared to December 2018 decreased by 0,4% and the number of unemployed women also decreased by 0,4%.
