Streets named after Ustasha Cadres in Mostar are a thing of the Past

At the session of the City Council of Mostar, a Decision was made on changing the six disputed names of Mostar streets.

With this, Mile Budak Street will be Aleksa Santic Street, and Vokic and Lorkovic Street will be Tin Ujevic Street.

Rafael Boban Street will be replaced by Fr. Ljudevit Lasta, then Djuro Spuzevic Street will be replaced by Ico Voljevica, and Jure Francetic Street will be replaced by Humska Street, while Ivo Zelenika Street will be renamed Ciglana.

25 councilors voted for this Decision, 8 abstained, while no councilor was against this Decision.

At the session, the opposition’s proposals that Ivo Zelenika Street be renamed Mate Zelenika Street and that Rafael Boban Street be renamed ‘Zenske solidarnosti’ (Women’s Solidarity) Street were not adopted.

Judging by yesterday’s session, the names of Mostar’s streets will still be discussed, considering that the councilor Irma Baralija, on behalf of Our party, requested that the women who left their mark in this city also get a street, especially since Mostar has the fewest streets named after women.

Also, the president of the Caucus of Councilors of HRS, Silvio Bubalo, requested that the item of changing the name of Marsala Tito Street to King Stjepan Tomasevic Street be included in yesterday’s agenda, Klix.ba writes.
