Strong Earthquake hits Japanese Islands

An earthquake measuring 6 on the Richter scale struck an area near Ogasawara Island in the Pacific Ocean south of Tokyo, the Japanese capital, on Tuesday morning, the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) said.

The epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of about 50 kilometers on the island of Hahajima, according to the agency.

No tsunami warning has been issued, it added.
