An earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale struck Peru today, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) announced.
The earthquake, with its epicenter in the Iray region, occurred at a depth of 93.4 kilometers, the USGS said.
So far, there are no reports of injuries or material damage.
Peru, one of the countries with the world’s largest seismic movements, is located in the Pacific seismic zone, also known as the “Pacific Ring of Fire”.
