Former Prime Minister Aleksandar Stub from the Finnish National Coalition Party declared victory in the second round of the presidential elections.
His rival in the second round from the liberal Green Party party Havisto said that “by all accounts he was defeated in the elections”.
After 93.9 percent of the votes were counted, Stub won 52.3 percent of the votes, and Havisto 47.9 percent.
The final voting results will be confirmed by the Ministry of Justice on February 14.
The government will announce the results at the plenary session a day later.
The newly elected president will take office at the beginning of March.
