In Mostar yesterday, the student conference called MOSTIMUM 2014 opened, where students from 17 countries will simulate the work of the UN in the next five days.
According to PR Manager of MOSTIMUM Enida Adžagić, organizers of the sixth in a row conference of students are University of “Džemal Bijedić” and University Mostar.
‘’We are honored to host the participants to the conference from 17 countries in the world. In the next few days, they will have the chance to gain an unforgettable experience with students from various cultures and civilizations’’, said Adžagić.
In the simulation work of the UN, students hold on to the actual rules laid down by the work of the UN. The official language at the conference is English, and there is a dress code. According to Nikola Veselinović from Belgrade University, discussions will be led through five councils: the Security Council, Futuristic Council of Security, Council for Human Rights, African Union and G20.
The topics that students will discuss range from current issues, such as the security situation in South Sudan and reform of the Security Council, to hypothetical themes, such as political situation in the Caucasus 2025 or genetic modification of human beings.
The UN model conference has a long tradition, in Europe and in the world, and is held with the support of the UN, and at the end of the conference all participants will receive a certificate from the UN.
