In this year’s season, BH food industry Klas d.d. Sarajevo purchased 1.100 tons of high-quality raspberries making a cooperation with 800 subcontractors from the area of Canton Sarajevo, Central Bosnia Canton and Zenica-Doboj Canton.
“This year’s purchase of raspberries is higher than the last year’s one for almost 100%. We surpassed our own plan and it couldn’t be possible without the trust of BH raspberry producers, and we respected that trust. All subcontractors are paid for their products. Analysis showed that this year as well, Klas has the best quality of raspberries, that guarantee the health safety of consumers, and customers recognize us because of it and seek for our raspberries“, said Esad Babic, Head of the Professional Service of the Product Development and Raspberry Purchase of the company Klas d.d. Sarajevo.
Professional Service of Klas is each year visiting producers and their raspberry plantings, conducting educations and providing a professional supervision of the production and purchase, all that with the aim to achieve high yields and good quality of fruits, without the presence of pesticides and secure microbiological properness.
In 2016, we are planning to expand the cooperation, to purchase, store and process around 2.500 tons of raspberries and other berries. In this regard, we are planning to expand the capacity of the cold storage in Blazuj, but also to build a new cold storage in Tesanj.
With 1.100 tons of raspberries of cultivars Vilamet, Miker and Polka, 10 tons of plantation blackberry, 17 tons of plantation strawberry, 1 ton of wild blackberry, 20 tons of wild blueberry and 12 tons of wild cranberry were purchased until now.
Purchased fruits are mainly processed for needs of the Klas production, and the most of it is being exported to the market of the EU, Japan and Turkey.
