Suicide bomber kills at least 5 in second Attack in Iraq

BAGHDAD, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) — At least five people were killed and 15 others wounded in a second suicide bomb attack in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad on Tuesday, a police source told Xinhua.

A suicide bomber wearing explosive vest blew himself up around midday at a busy area in Baiyaa district in southern Baghdad, the source said on condition of anonymity.
The attack is the second during the day, as another suicide bomber detonated himself in the morning at a busy commercial area near a post office in New Baghdad district in eastern Baghdad, killing up to seven people and wounding 29 others, the source said.
Earlier in the day, the source put the toll of the first attack at three killed and ten others wounded.

No group has so far claimed responsibility for the two attacks, but the Islamic State (IS) militant group, in most cases, is responsible for the suicide attacks, targeting areas where crowds of people gather, including markets, cafes and mosques across Iraq.
Terrorist acts, violence and armed conflicts killed 691 Iraqis and wounded 1,016 others in August across Iraq, the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq said earlier.
Many blame the current chronic instability, cycle of violence, and the emergence of extremist groups, such as the IS, on the U.S. that invaded and occupied Iraq in March 2003.
