Support for Work of BiH Prosecutor Office

The French Ambassador to BiH Roland Gilles had a meeting yesterday in Sarajevo with the Chief Prosecutor of BiH Goran Salihović, where he expressed his support for the work of the Prosecutor’s office in the framework of the process of establishing the rule of law in this country.

They spoke of cooperation and support of the French government in BiH, especially to agencies for law enforcement and judicial institutions, as well as cooperation of institutions for law enforcement from BiH and France.

The Chief Prosecutor of BiH spoke to the Ambassador about the current activities of the BiH Prosecutor’s office, as well as planned activities in the future that are based on strengthening capacity for a more efficient fight against all areas of criminal activity that is within the jurisdiction of the BiH Prosecutor’s office.

A focus was placed on activities of the Prosecutor’s office in the fight against corruption, efficient prosecution of war crimes, and the fight against organized crime and terrorism.

They spoke of cooperation in the area of justice, and support was given for an independent judiciary through structural dialogue and the choice of prosecutors through support of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of BiH.

During the meeting they discussed the future relocation of the BiH Prosecutor’s office in a new building to ensure the necessary capacity and working conditions for employers.

They also spoke of the training processes and education of the staff in the Prosecutor’s office and agencies for law enforcement in BiH, which is supported by the French Embassy to BiH.
