sarajevotimesThe Senators of the Senate of the University of Sarajevo, on their 12th session, held on 17th July, supported the initiative to introduce elective courses on the language, culture and literature of the Roma.

This initiative was launched by the coordinator for the Roma in BiH  Hedina Sijerčić, and the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees supported it.

This initiative is based on the Revised Action Plan for BiH on educational needs of Roma, which the Council of Ministers adopted on 14.07. 2010. The Act defines four goals to help the children of this group have equality in terms of access to quality education.

One of the four objectives of this Action Plan is to preserve and promote the language, culture and history of Roma people.

“Sarajevo University will launch a procedure for the adoption of curricula with the aim of introducing elective courses on the language, culture and literature of the Roma“,  announced from the University of Sarajevo.
