Sweden/Sida has decided to support Transparency International BiH’s core activities with 1,9 million BAM in the next four years.

The agreement was signed between Marie Bergström, the Head of Development Cooperation at the Swedish Embassy and Srđan Blagovčanin, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the TI BiH.

The Agreement is based on the main strategic priorities defined by its Strategic plan which are:

• Establishing a strong and productive cooperation with citizens and institutions, with additional focus on agents of change identified within institutions;
• The adoption and monitoring the introduction and enforcement of anti-corruption standards and policies at all levels of government in the country, and the fight for social justice;
• Enhancing the capacities and image of Transparency International BiH and improving the organization’s position in the global network

Lejla Hodžić who returned from Master studies abroad and now works with Transparency International says she is really happy to be able to work on anticorruption projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina and that this kind of support is very important for organizations like TI so they could also give volunteering and job opportunities to young people.

“Transparency International in BiH was one of the few organizations in the country which provided me a volunteering opportunity during my undergraduate studies, as well as the first employment which was very important for me as a young person because the fight against corruption in our society should be primarily the objective of the youth. Even then, as a volunteer, I was involved in anti-corruption activities of TI BiH which were supported by SIDA, and it is a great pleasure that SIDA’s support in the fight against corruption continues„ said Lejla Hodžić from TI BiH.
