Syrian Group in the U.S. claims that Mass Grave near Damascus contains at least 100.000 Bodies

The president of the SETF (Syrian Emergency Task Force), a group founded in the United States (U.S.), Mouaz Moustafa, stated in an interview that a mass grave near Damascus contains 100.000 bodies of individuals killed by the regime of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

According to his claims, which have not been independently verified, there are a total of five sites identified as mass graves.

Moustafa is currently in Damascus, and the mass grave he refers to is located 40 kilometers from Syria’s capital.

“The figure of 100.000 people is a conservative estimate. It is perhaps even an unfair estimate, excessively conservative,” he said.

As for the victims, Moustafa noted that they include not only Syrian citizens but also foreigners, among them citizens of the U.S. and the United Kingdom (UK), among others.

Assad, along with his father and former Syrian leader Hafez al-Assad, has been accused of mass killings that, according to numerous human rights organizations, occurred even before 2011 and the start of the civil war.

It is worth recalling that in late November this year, rebels launched an offensive against Assad’s regime, and by December 8th, they had captured Damascus. Assad fled to Russia, where he remains to this day.
