Take a look at how Sarajevo looked from the Air in 1954 (Photo)

sarajevo air 3Srecko Ignjatovic shared photos at how the city of Sarajevo and its development looked in 1954.

“I am sharing rare shots of the city of Sarajevo from the air from 1954. It is very interesting to see former appearance and architecture of the city so that the younger (as well as older) generations can witness changes of the planned development of the city in the past 60 years of its construction.

We, the older generations, remember that the officer determines how and what will be constructed with one move of a pen, and today, with these photos, we can see that there are many buildings on one plot, while there is nothing on the other.

Also, some people will be happy to see their house (building) in the past on these published recordings, which means that it is legal and they will not have to pay for architects, fees, and contributions in relation to scanning of the condition from 1968.

Sarajevo-air2For all the fans of railways: they can see the narrow railroad to Bistrik and narrow railroad to the new railway station (opened in 1953), where it joined the same track of tram transportation. Also, it is possible to see the infrastructure of the Central workshop (later Vaso Miskin Crni), the station of Sarajevo railway, military camp (barrack ‘Tito’), a large park in Marijin Dvor, Skenderija plateau and other locations where the transformation that they experienced is visible.

We should have in mind that these photos are scans on A-3 form with a description that is taken from the original and the quality is not so bad if we consider that it was made with analogue camera and processing technique that is called cellulose aero-recording, and not digital aerial photo camera (pushbroom camera), which is widely used nowadays.
