talgo-trainsRailways of FBiH will officially put into traffic Talgo sets of trains from Monday, the 26th of September 2016.

After successfully completed preparations and test runs, the train will, for now, run on the route schedule 714/715 between Sarajevo and Doboj.

“We named our new modern passenger train ‘BH train’ and we are waiting for verification. In fact, this is its most important function – to connect the whole BiH, quickly, safely and efficiently. On behalf of the Management Board of the Railways of FBiH, I want to thank everyone who have contributed the realization of this long-awaited project – workers of the Railways of FBiH, colleagues from the Railways of RS and the Regulatory Board of Railways of BiH,” said Enis Dzafic, managing director of the Railways of FBiH.

“BH train” will depart from Sarajevo at 4:28 pm and arrive in Doboj at 7:35 pm, while the departure of the train from Doboj will be at 03:49 am and arrival in Sarajevo at 06:53 am. Ticket prices will remain the same, plus the amount for the reservation. Stations at which the train will receive travelers are: Sarajevo, Visoko, Kakanj, Zenica, Zepce, Zavidovici, Maglaj and Doboj.

Capacity of “BH train” is 237 seats (200 seats of II class, 36 seats of I class, and one seat for the disabled persons). These are modern, high-speed trains that provide passengers with exceptional comfort, Internet access and other amenities in accordance with the most modern European trains.

It is planned to extend the current line to Banja Luka. This route will enable the passengers who are traveling from Tuzla to Sarajevo and vice versa, to have a good quality connection to Doboj with “BH train”, which would practically involve Tuzla in this project. Also, after the overhaul of the so-called “Southern line”, it is planned to introduce “BH train” on the route Sarajevo-Mostar-Capljina, and in the summer on the route Sarajevo-Ploce.

“Negotiations with Croatian Railways to introduce BH train on the international line Sarajevo-Zagreb are currently ongoing as well as the re-establishment of the rail traffic on the route Sarajevo – Ploce. Besides these projects, the plan is to establish rail traffic between Sarajevo and Bihac which requires electrification of another part of the railway, and the required amount for this investment is 2.3 million BAM. Railways of FBiH have been the backbone of freight transport and development of BH economy so far, and with the introduction of BH train, the Railways of FBiH want to become the leader in passenger traffic. We will unblock the railway passenger traffic with the final implementation of this project, and to create an environment for the establishment and revival of passenger traffic on the entire national, regional and European railway corridor. Our goal is to connect BiH and to be an integral part of European transport flows,” said Dzafic.
