The popular gastronomic guide Taste Atlas once again praised Bosnian traditional food, and this time, it was pie.
Taste Atlas praised Sarajevo’s “Sač”, i.e. the pies offered by this restaurant. They characterized the food from this buregdzinica as iconic food in iconic places.
“Burek at buregdžinica Sač in Sarajevo is considered one of the culinary delights for those who visit or live in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This buregdžinica is known for the traditional preparation of pie, which is an integral part of Balkan cuisine. Despite its Turkish origin, this dish has evolved into the proud jewel of Bosnian national cuisine,” they add.
They referred to the very name of buregdžinice, explaining the meaning of the word sač.
“The name “Sač” refers to the traditional Balkan culinary ‘dome’ that is used to prepare dishes on coals, giving the food a unique taste and texture,” they conclude.
Taste Atlas has on several occasions highlighted the cuisine of Bosnia and Herzegovina, i.e. its specific products. Thus, numerous BH traditional dishes found in the list of the best rated dishes in the world, Klix.ba writes.
