The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Policy and Security, Josep Borrell, made a “thinly veiled” call to the United States of America to reconsider its military aid to Israel due to the large number of civilian casualties in the conflicts in Gaza.
After the meeting of European development ministers in Brussels, he recalled that US President Joseph Biden said last week that Israel’s reaction to the attack by Hamas on October 7 was “exaggerated”, and that US officials repeatedly pointed out that “too many people are dying” in Gaza.
“Well, if you believe that too many people are being killed, maybe you should send less weapons, to prevent so many people from being killed. If the international community thinks it’s a massacre, that too many people are being killed, maybe we should consider sending weapons “, stated Borrell.
