The 16th Anniversary of the Death of Babies marked in BiH

The delegation of the Sarajevo Canton, led by the Minister of Labour, Social Policy, Displaced Persons and Refugees Enda Pavić Pečenković, together with representatives of the City of Sarajevo, the Municipality of Centar and the administration of the Bjelave Children’s Home laid flowers yesterday at the memorial and graves of six babies at the city cemetery ‘Vlakovo’ who tragically died in a fire in the Bjelave Children’s Home, marking the 16th anniversary of their death.

In the fire that broke out on this day in 2007 on the third floor of the Cantonal Public Institution “Home for Children without Parental Care” – Bjelave Children’s Home, six babies – four boys and two girls, residents of this institution – died. At that time, 18 children from the Bjelave Children’s Home were seriously and lightly injured, the Press Service of the Sarajevo Canton announced.

Bostandžija Medina, Akmadžić Al’Dina–Dalal, Čustović Amin, Šabanović Džemal, Pejanović Damir, Krasnići Faik, all born in 2006, tragically lost their lives on this day.
