The 23rdanniversary of Srebrenica genocide was marked today in Potocari with the burial and funeral for 35 exhumed victims.

In that way, the families of innocent victims found at least some kind of peace in the fact that their closest ones found their eternal rest in the valley of white tombstones in Potocari.

The presence of up to 40,000 citizens was expected on commemoration and funeral. A total of 6,575 victims have been buried in the cemetery in Potocari, and 35 victims were buried today, including four minors.

The youngest victim of Srebrenica genocide that was buried in Potocari this year is Vesid Ibric, who was killed when he was only 16 years old, while the oldest victim was Sahin Halilovic who was 71 years old when he was killed. Today’s funeral for 35 victims of Srebrenica genocide will be the one with the smallest number of buried victims in the last 23 years.

The preparation of graves in the cemetery of the Memorial Center Potocari – Srebrenica was completed yesterday, and family members took the remains of 35 victims from the former Battery Factory in the Memorial Center in Potocari.

Hundreds of motorcyclists, ultra-marathon runner, marathon runners and cyclists from all over the world came to Potocari and they wanted to pay tribute to all the victims of the greatest crime committed on the territory of Europe after the World War II.

No political speeches will be allowed this year, and family members of the victims of Srebrenica genocide attended the commemoration.

July 11 was proclaimed as the Day of Mourning in BiH.
