The Association of Detainees of Mostar marked the 29th anniversary of the closure of the ‘Heliodrom’ camp in the Rodoč settlement in Mostar.

In contrast to previous years, former detainees at the HVO ‘Heliodrom’ camp had the opportunity to lay flowers at this place. They also remembered all the horrors they experienced at the site of their former torture chamber.

Emir Hajdarević, the president of the Association of Detainees of Mostar, who spent 309 days in the Heliodrom, Dretelj, Vojno and Sovići camps, said in a statement to the media that today marks the beginning of the dissolution of the camps in these areas.

At the same time, he noted that, according to currently available data, more than 10,000 people from Mostar and other parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina passed through the said camp.

Also, according to the data of the inmates, 54 people are listed as victims in this camp, more precisely, they were either killed on the front lines or in the camps.

Amer Đulić, the president of the Association of Detainees of Stolac, also a minor inmate of the ‘Heliodrom’ camp, who before coming to that camp stayed in three of them – Koštana hospital, Dretelj and Gabela, said that he spent 233 days in the camps, Fena reports.
