With the cutting of the ribbon, the jubilee 50th international fair of plum, agricultural and food industry was opened today in Gradačac, which gathers 300 exhibitors from Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Turkey, France and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The organizer of the traditional and respectable manifestation is the Tourist Board of the City of Gradačac with numerous partners and sponsors. As part of the event, the 6th International Beekeeping Fair will be held as a sub-fair activity.

The Jubilee Plum Fair was opened by the Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nermin Nikšić, who referred to the recent monstrous crime in Gradačac and offered his condolences to the families of the victims, and a speedy recovery to the injured.

“We all have Gradačac in our hearts because of the Dragon of Bosnia tower. Unfortunately, Gradačac has recently been in the focus of public interest, and no one would want anyone to be in the spotlight because of that. We want Gradačac to be recognized for its fair and many other beauties, and the fact that we have 300 exhibitors shows that they are all welcomed here with hospitality and that’s why they keep coming back,” said Nikšić.

All who had the opportunity to speak expressed their condolences to the families of the victims of the recent monstrous crime in Gradačac and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured with the hope that such a crime would never happen again.

“The fair was held for the first time in 1969. And here, in 53 years, we have reached the 50th anniversary event. This is an economic – tourist event, but all activities that were planned as part of the cultural and tourist program have been canceled due to the tragedy that recently befell us. Scientific and professional lectures and consultations are important to us. Of course, I want all participants to feel comfortable in Gradačac,” said Ensar Mešanović, president of the Tourist Board of the City of Gradačac.

Mayor Edis Dervišagić, who is also the president of the Organizing Committee, said that Gradačac will be a good host and that they are proud of all previous decades, and that during the four days of the fair there will be discussions that will contribute to better and higher quality production and export.
