At yesterday’s meeting of all organizations of healthcare workers’ unions in the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton (HNC), a decision was made that all negotiations regarding the signing of a new collective agreement with the Government of the HNChave failed and that a general strike will start in about twenty days.
The President of the Independent Union of Employees of University Clinical Hospital Mostar Ivica Anic asserted that the Government of HNC did not submit any offer to health workers and that the legal conditions for a general strike have been met.
”We fulfilled all legal frameworks in the sense that we sent an initiative for negotiations, sent a request for a peace council, we also offered the Government of the HNC a third option, which is peace negotiations, to which they did not respond. Our legal team also sent two emergency services to meet with us, but the HNC Government did not respond to them either, and thus we acquired the conditions for a general strike,” noted Anic in an interview with agency Fena.
He added that at yesterday‘s meeting, which was attended by representatives of all health institutions in HNC, a unanimous decision was made to go on a general strike.
”We will announce the exact date of the strike, but before that we have to sign an agreement with the employers on jobs that cannot be interrupted due to the strike, such as intensive care units, emergency services, and others. A general strike must be announced ten days in advance, and when we finish all that, it will start in about twenty days,” told Anic, Federalna reports.
