Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željko Komšić and member Denis Bećirović are on an official visit to Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, where they also met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy today.
Zelenskyy announced that he met with the members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Komšić and Bećirović.
“President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željko Komšić and member of the Presidency of that country Denis Bećirović, who came to visit our country to participate in the third summit of the international Crimean Platform,” they stated on the official website of the Ukrainian president.
It is reported that Zelenskyy thanked the members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the financial support that Bosnia and Herzegovina provides to Ukraine and also pointed out the importance of Bosnia and Herzegovina joining the European Union sanctions policy against Russia.
“Thank you for your visit to Ukraine on National Flag Day, it is a great honor for us. I also want to thank you for your support of our sovereignty and territorial integrity, for your support and participation in the summit of the international Crimean Platform,” Zelenskyy said.
Zelenskyy expressed his gratitude to Bosnia and Herzegovina for supporting the resolutions concerning the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, especially within the framework of the United Nations.
“The interlocutors discussed further prospects for strengthening cooperation between the two countries, emphasizing that Ukraine and Bosnia and Herzegovina share a common goal – membership in the European Union. The president also expressed hope that Bosnia and Herzegovina will have the opportunity to participate in the practical implementation of the Ukrainian peace formula.” , it is stated on the official website of Ukrainian President Zelenskyy.
Bećirović also announced earlier on social networks that they had a meeting with the leader of Ukraine.
“A cordial meeting and friendly conversation with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy,” said Bećirović.
Komšić and Bećirović arrived in Ukraine by night train, and this morning they were met in the center of Kyiv by a unit of the ceremonial Ukrainian military guard, after which they paid their respects to the brave fighters who died in the war with Russia, defending their country. Then they laid flowers in Bucha and paid tribute to the victims of the Russian invasion.
After paying their respects to the victims in Bucha, Komšić and Bećirović visited the destroyed Romanov bridge in Irpin, a suburb of Kyiv.
During their stay in Ukraine, Komšić and Bećirović will also attend the Crimean Platform international conference, which will be held on August 23.
This is the first time that a member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina has visited Ukraine since the aggression by Russia.
