After the official close of the 53rd International Theater Festival MESS, Dino Mustafić, Selma Spahić and Giorgio Ursini summarized this year’s festival and announced the 54th MESS Festival.
It was pointed out that this was one of the best festivals in the past few years regarding the program. The festival for the first time officially opened outside Sarajevo. It opened in Mostar with a spectacular performance under the bridge. “The festival went back to its roots on the best way. I think we have created a very good balance between famous names and young filmmakers”, said the director of the Festival Dino Mustafić.
Giorgio Ursini, one of the main selectors, pointed out the efforts invested to the festival every year in order to improve it, but also the difficulties because of financial circumstances. “We wish next year to bring famous troops from all the continents. We are confident that the program will be very rich, because we already know that America returns to the festival, we will have the first show from Japan and Africa and the Orient will be present as well”, announced Ursini.
The next festival will be held from 03 to 12 October 2014, and next year Sarajevo celebrates the anniversary of 100 years of the start of World War One. In accordance with the anniversary, the theme of war and peace will be presented. The Thalia Theater from Hamburg with the play “Faust” is supposed to open the festival and the Need company with its show “Market Place” will close the festival.
