The airline from Oman, SalamAir, decided to cancel flights to Sarajevo, which were usually carried out in the summer season.
SalamAir has announced the termination of flights from Sarajevo to Muscat this summer, which were supposed to be organized twice a week. The reason for this, as the company said, is Salam Air’s belief that there will be very few potential passengers on this route.
The reason for their fear is the introduction of visas for Omani citizens from March 1, 2024.
Because of this, they believe that it would be best to direct their resources towards the establishment of flights with other cities.
Sarajevo Airport confirmed this information to us, saying that the flights to Oman were successful.
“The introduction of visas for citizens of any country, including for Oman, has an impact on the potential of the route. We can confirm that the mentioned route recorded good performances in the previous summer season. However, despite the fact that BiH introduced visas for citizens of Oman, we hope that the visa regime and the fact that the SalamAir company does not operate flights in this summer season will not significantly affect the arrival of citizens of the Sultanate of Oman to Bosnia and Herzegovina, who have a significant number of direct routes to Sarajevo from UAE and Saudi Arabia”, they said from the Airport.
