In the organization of the Armed Forces (OS) of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the location of Modran near Ustikolina, a demonstrative exercise “Assistance to civil government structures in case of fire” was held today, and the goal was to demonstrate the equipment and readiness to act in crisis situations.

Members of the third infantry battalion of the fourth infantry brigade of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina carried out the exercise in coordination with city and cantonal civil structures, medical and Red Cross teams, with the support of the Goražde Professional Fire Department and the Air Force team.

Extinguishing fires from the air with the help of a helicopter of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, providing first aid to the victims and evacuating the civilian population caught in the fire were simulated, and a total of 50 participants performed all the exercises successfully.

– In accordance with the tasks of the Armed Forces, we have the obligation to be ready to make ourselves available and react in case of natural disasters and help civil structures in case of fires, floods and earthquakes. In accordance with our annual plan, today we carried out a practical exercise together with the BPK MUP Support Unit, the Red Cross team, the medical team from Čapljina – the fourth logistics support battalion, and the firefighter team from Goražde – said Colonel Muamer Sijerčić.

Since 2010, the Third Infantry Battalion of the Fourth Infantry Brigade of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina has been engaged several times in real support, from firefighting to providing aid to civilians during heavy snowfall and floods.

– The aim of the exercise is precisely to see the readiness and training of the members of the third infantry battalion and the coordination between the units that participated, to assess the operability of the equipment and to possibly spot deficiencies in order to eliminate them in time and be ready for the highest quality and efficient performance of our tasks in the coming period – said Sijercic.

He emphasized that the 3rd Infantry Battalion of the 4th Infantry Brigade of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina is well equipped for firefighting, as well as providing assistance on the water, and trained air units are also equipped and are always ready to provide support in extinguishing large-scale fires.
